Random color generator

Roll a single random HEX or a five-stop triadic palette when you are stuck on a hero background, game jam theme, or placeholder brand. Nothing uploads — refresh until something sparks a direction.

Why this tool exists

Blank-canvas paralysis is real. Randomness breaks habit loops. Locking a palette (not just one color) gives you enough contrast to sketch UI without pretending the first roll is final brand.

How to use it

  1. Hit Random color for one swatch with a copy chip.
  2. Hit Random palette (5) for a triadic-style row you can refine.
  3. Copy HEX values into the palette generator or tint & shade tool for ramps.
  4. Run the contrast checker once you pick text colors.

Use a different tool when…

You have strict brand guidelines with approved HEX lists — randomness will fight your governance.

Practical tips

  • Screenshot palettes you like; random seeds are not saved between reloads.
  • Palettes use triadic math from the rolled base — not curated design judgment.
  • Use random colors for internal mocks only until legal approves trademark colors.

FAQ

Can I lock one color and randomize the rest?

Not yet — use the palette generator with a fixed base instead.

Are palettes guaranteed accessible?

No. Always check contrast before production.

Can I share a permalink to a color I rolled?

Copy HEX manually; we do not store rolls server-side.

Why triadic for palettes?

It tends to produce visibly distinct stops. Switch modes in the palette generator afterward.

Will the same palette appear twice?

Possible — keep clicking until you find a set you like.
